Into The Storm Zone!

I have been busy painting last night and to my amazement I cooked dinner, did some work and painted my entire fleet for Thursdays battle! It did however, keep me up until midnight but boy they look good. I dont have photos of the whole fleet but you will see them in action soon.

Our first game of Firestorm Armada will be a baptism in fire with 2 huge alliance fleets meeting in the first of many engagements. Commander with no experience, patch up fleets and more importantly lots of ambition. The Kurak alliance fleet contains the Nuke Spewing Terran's, the Mine laying Crustaceans of the Aquan's and their faithful hippie allies of Terquai. The Zenian League is made up of the Sinister Directorate manipulating the Dindrenzi Traitors to fight for their will.

The Background:

Deep within the Storm Zone when the war broke out a strange signal was found coming from one of the many asteroids in the Zone. The Terquai immediately sent some scientists on behalf of the Kurak Alliance to see not only what was causing the signal, but what use could be gained from it. A small Terquai fleet went in the hotly contested zone to avoid detection but it was to no avail. It appears the Directorate have other plans for rock and are preparing to unlock its secrets first. The Terquai were slaughtered to the last.

The Terquai quickly alerted their closest allies the Aquans who promptly sent the freshly matured 78th Shoal Fleet to secure the Asteroid for further research. The Terran immediately knew that this signal was of importance since the Directorate was involved and thus sent in supporting ships. The Terquai mustered 4 cruisers to escort the next wave of scientists and add some more firepower to the Kurak Coalition. The technology, whatever it was, was not to get into enemy hands.

The Directorate informed the Dindrenzi of the Terrans coming involvement in the battle, knowing that if the Terrans are involved they could avoid committing their fleets to the battle, instead relying on the Dindrenzi forces and their blind lust for revenge to lure them into battle. This signal has been seen before, by the Directorate and it always leads to innovation. They will deny their enemies whatever secrets it will hold.

The signal is of a strange alien nature to the Krak Alliance. Some Terquai Scientists theorize that it could be an ancient ship buried deep in the rock. Others believe its simply a trick employed by the enemy to lure them into a trap. Whats most interesting is the signal was detected close to when the war broke out. Either way the Kurak alliance is taking the gamble in the hopes that anything discovered can help turn the war around so they can push back the invaders.

For the forces involved I will simply list the class of ships.

Pregame Thoughts

I have no experience in this game but one huge advantage I can see is the Zenian League have little Flight wings (Bombers, Fighters etc) and more importantly little way to defend against them. Considering I have 13 Bombers all Together I think thats an advantage I will have to exploit.

In short none of us really know how its going to play out, but we are all excited about this!

See keep an eye out for the Battle Report very soon!

For those who have not read into the back ground of this game or even heard of it, I advise heading to Spartan Games and checking it out! We did a small test game last week with a few ships and a few turns and it was a blast. The other players are painting frantically (hopefully) so maybe we will see many painted ships for our first game of Firestorm Armada!

Also Spartan games has 15% off all products right now, and if you have been looking into the game check out the fleet bundles here, thats more ships than you will need at a good price.

    1. I know how you feel, still trying to find time for my first game of Bolt Action. Have all the books and the armies are almost ready, just not enough time!

I really look forward to it and from what I have seen so far it looks great. Regardless you will know my opinion on the rules very soon.

    2. I often found the same with pics for other games, awesome paint jobs but I lack the skills to make them a reality. I still have plans to make a set of Guard into 2000AD Genetic Infantry alongside Space Marine's made up as Judges.

    3. I havent seen the old movies or read the comics but my partner and I loved that movie. I think warlord games sells some judges but they are of the cartoonish theme.

But I know how ya feel. just wait till I put my pics up of the battle. Its not nearly as awesome as these pics haha.
