More Squats! - From Bob Olley

Hey guys, been a while, I have catch up to play with half written battle reports and updates, but for now I wanted to share this kickstarter that I personally am excited for! These are the latest addition to the growing number of Scrunt (Squat) models from Bob Olley!

Below are the Squats i got from his last kickstarter, and I must say the new ones are an improvement! I personally have pledged for 15 of his new Scrunts with the rifles. Meaning I will have 1 Platoon of Scrunts in my army.

Coming are some HMGs, tank commanders and gun crews so keep an eye out if some Squats are catching your eye. I personally cant wait for it to end. Last time, he shipped quickly (compared to many other model kickstarters that have been) and more importantly he is open to suggestions etc.

Anyway check them out here here and below are some more pictures of whats available:

Ill be doing some updates soon hopefully on a few things. Also I have great gaming success lately both at the Tournament and locally. I will have news of my victories soon!

    2. I've been pondering the demonology psykic powers and have been wondering about doing attack dogs for the choas hounds, could be very funny to use these dogs instead!

    3. Not to hate on dwarven death korp since I made the samurai teriyaki death korps,
It would be funny to see them try and hop up to see over the trench lip. "I... Can't... See... Them!

    4. sjb: That would be pretty cool, Attack of the wenner hounds haha. Unfortunately he isnt selling them separately, but if you ask he may do them for you!

Don: Yep pretty much, they must have squat only trenches or maybe the squats have trench stools to use for trench warfare haha

    5. Thinking more of the anvil industries dogs for mine, but still think it would be very funny to see. Reminds me of the monty python sketch about the killer rabbit!

@ don; or maybe they just stand on each others shoulders! Just hope they take there helmets off First!

    6. Those anvil dogs are some nice dogs though. If you get some let me know how decent they are, I have been tempted to get some dogs. Yea, a warp fueled sausage dog, looks harmless. Exactly like the bunny sketch really.

Ouch, the worst kind of friendly fire there!

    7. Still trying to work out if its a way I'd play and if I have the time. I still have half a guard army to paint plus my scions, inquisition, and marines. Also still sorting out my rough riders. Think I coulddo with aabout a week solid at my table to get things in order, as it is I'm lucky to get 5 mins a week!

    8. The joys of a painting backlog! I know how you feel every time I look at my Lizardmen Army. Did you end up getting the big cats for your rough riders?

I try production line painting my models, but it certainly does not make the job very fun.

    9. It's the way I usually paint mine as I run a fluffy catachan light infantry army, all troops apart from a vendetta and two wyverns at 2000pts. It's only half painted at the moment, and there is a Valkyrie still in its box waiting to fly.

Haven't got the cats yet, waiting for this months pay check to land, and I'm still debating the riders, but was going to wait till I got the cats before deciding. Not sure wether to stick with catachan models or go for something a little more outlandish.

    10. I can imagine thats a lot of infantry. Do you find painting the flesh the hardest bit?

Thats cool you are going for the cats, I would love to see pics mate. Any ideas roughly theme wise?

    11. yeah, it is a lot, takes a while to set up! I'm not a very good painter. When I got back in to 40k I stripped my old models to repaint and I'm going with base coats followed by army painters quick shade, as some of the members at the club I go to have done there fantasy armies that way and it looks good, a lot better than I could do with shades and washes!

As for the cats, no I haven't got a theme and that's probably the problem. The army is catachan themed, homebrewed planet of Hjaltland, and I could fit the cats in to there fluff or go with an attachment from another planet. I'm not sure yet but I would like them to stand out. With around 130 infantry models on the table already, most looking the same, it would be nice to have something different.

    12. Im glad you mentioned quick shade, do you recommend it? I am scared it will darken my models too much (So I was eyeing up the light tone one). How do you use it?

If you want them to stand out, you should do something that contrasts with the soldiers. So armored and so on? Is there any theme that particularly interests you?

    13. I'll only be going for the medium one, it doesn't seem to darken them to much but does give them a fair amount of shading. Its very simple to use, if a little messy! There is a good video on the army painter website that explains it better than I could here.

Most of my army is classic army green, vehicles included, so was thinking of bright yellow/orange for the panthers and then possibly silver armoured riders or praetorian types, as I like the colour schemes, although I'd probably go for blue, as my inquisition will be red (when I get around to them!). Currently I'm leaning towards the Praetorians and bright colours.

    14. Praetorians are good fun to make, and they are easily available on the vic minis site. But honestly, they work in red, blue, green or even desert fatigues etc. So no shortage of contrasting colours on them.

Ill check out the vid tonight. That could speed up my painting ability pretty decently. Cheers dude.

    15. A lot of the guys at the club I go to have switched over to the army painter stuff and some of them are good painters, certainly better than me. So I figure if there impressed by it it can't be too bad.

Was definatly thinking the vic figures for the riders.

    16. I might follow suit... It looks a lot easier (if messier haha)

I agree, Ultimately it comes down to which head you want to use for any company really.

    17. Decided on the tannenburg dress uniform with soft caps, and yellow/orange for the panthers and light blue for the uniforms. Now I just need to take the plunge and buy it all. Hopefully i might get it sorted before the tournament at the beginning of October.

    18. Excellent! They will contrast really nicely against the army. Take some pictures if you can mate, I would love to see them! Im rather jealous haha

    19. Lloyd, I'm not sure why you'd be jealous with your badgers. Yeah, when I get around to it I will try and send some pictures, but you might be in for a very long wait!
